Packing a Holiday Capsule Wardrobe.

In a bid to avoid the ever increasing costs of checking in baggage, more and more people are now heading off on holiday with hand luggage only. But fitting everything you need for a short break into a carry-on suitcase can be a bit of a challenge, especially for those of us that like to have a choice of outfits to cater for every possible occasion!

This week we've been chatting to Sophie Hannah, self-proclaimed packing pro and founder of Sophie's Suitcase, to get her expert tips on how to pack the perfect city-break capsule wardrobe into your Jurni Suitcase.

Packing for a Weekend in Amsterdam, with Sophie's Suitcase.

I'm about to head off to Amsterdam for a long weekend of culture, cycling and leisurely walks by the canals. I'm not one of those people who are naturally organised packers, so before I head off anywhere, I like to make a little plan in my head so I know exactly what I need to take with me. After all, I only have a carry-on and 10kg weight…. Let’s do this!

First things first, if you don't want to check-in a bag, make sure you have a hand-luggage approved suitcase, I'm taking my trusty Jurni, which is the maximum size guaranteed to be accepted as hand luggage.

The suitcase is made entirely of black plastic with a bright blue trim around the edges of the case. The case comes with waterproof pod at the top where you can put your phone, passport and headphones in easy reach, a removable shelf within the suitcase, and it also has elastic lacing for all of your travel magazines. One of my favourite features is the fact you can sit on it, unlike most carry on cases they are flimsy and fabric therefore you end up sitting on the floor at the airport. This suitcase is made of a strong structure which can hold up to 100kg!

I was actually really impressed by the amount of stuff I managed to fit into my Jurni suitcase...

Clothing:
  • Jumpers in various colours
  • Pinafore dress and tights
  • Black Topshop Joni jeans x 2
  • Long Breton tee
  • Black roll neck Grey roll neck
  • Floaty top
  • Striped tee
  • The usual pants, socks and bra
  • Denim shirt

Work out wear:
  • Vest top and sports bra
  • Pins to Kill leggings

Pins to Kill is a new Aussie brand who sell incredibly bright patterned leggings to help you really stand out from the crowd when you are working out. I like to travel comfortably and often wear leggings to fly in, these wear great, even if I did get a few gasps!

Footwear:
  • White Chuck Taylors
  • Black Oasis boots
  • Black brogues from Primark
Accessories:
  • Travel documents pouch
  • Necklace
  • Bobble hat, scarf and gloves
  • DSLR camera
  • iPhone and charger
  • Laptop, mouse and charger
  • Headphones
  • Notebook and pen
  • Blogosphere Magazine
  • Cross-body bag

Toiletries:
  • Make up including Body Shop foundation, concealer and powder
  • Phizz
  • Rescue Remedy
  • Skin care including Body Shop night serum
  • Straighteners
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Contact lenses and glasses
  • Other little bits and bobs

Not a bad amount of stuff right? I think that's pretty much everything I need to pack into my Jurni! Head over to the Sophie's Suitcase blog to read more about what I get up to on my trip!
